I invite you to take your time and read my story. What I've learned about sharing my story is that it is not unique, except that it is me telling it. Many others have similar experiences as my own, so I hope what you discover here resonates in a way that inspires positive change for you and your health. This is a story several years in the making, as such it will take time to commit everything to text here in it's entirety. It is something that I passionately wish to share with others so we can all discover the power of change together, especially in our health!
For over 10 years now I have struggled with several symptoms of health concern, but could never quite figure out what it was. In college I was very active; I ran 3-5 miles several times a week, I played sports, and I participated in dance for nearly 10-11 hours a day. Life was great, and I was as healthy as I could ever be! At the age of 22 or so I was 6'1", I weighed 195-205 lbs which fluctuated regularly, wore a 34 waist size and a medium t shirt. I could also bench 280lbs, squat 310lbs, and could perform a 150 pushup regimen without breaking a sweat. I was in shape!
Why do I say all this? Because it wasn't till after I finished school, and started in the world of business that I began to notice these radical health changes taking place in my life and in my body. You see, the amount of physical activity in my daily routine diminished a great deal, but my eating habits did not change. It was something of a difficulty to make that change intentionally, and because I never felt i needed to, I never did.
It wouldn't be much longer after this photo was taken that I would slowly start to lose sight and control of my weight and my health.
This is me shortly after finishing school a the beginning of my teaching career.
Over time the frequency and duration of my daily activity continued to slow down more and more as I took on more responsibility in my occupations. Eight hour work days became ten, then twelve, 14, 16, and even some 18 hour days; and with those your really have almost no time for physical activity. It is during these times that you don't really notice that your health is in a decline because of how gradually it takes place. One day your 6'1" 215lbs, and then suddenly your 285lbs, and in my case...eventually I was 367lbs.
I wanted and needed help.
During these years where I was at my worst I began to exercise more, but in this exercise my body often felt worn out, exhausted, and unable to even do the exercises at a rate they would be beneficial; so I often found myself cheating on the exercises just so I could say I did one. My body would be in pain for days and days after a workout. And that was the cycle I was in, but I wanted to get better, so I pressed on. Fighting through the pain of workouts when I was so overweight started to physically take it's toll on my body as well.
It created pain, which resulted in exhaustion, which became laziness, and morphed in to depression, and the outlet for that was emotional eating...round and round it went. I started encountering sleepless nights which fed the laziness, and thus the emotional eating cycle. I started seeing a chiropractor for normal adjustments and physical therapy instruction for my body.
I started attending the gym regularly again to ensure I was getting daily activity, and it was working for a while. I also was attempting several different diets (not at the same time), one after the other when I either failed at one, or gave up for one reason or another.
Me at 367 lbs. Look at how round my face and my body is in this photo.
One of the programs I was on was such a caloric deficit that ALL of my nutritional value was acquired by pills. I was taking a handful of pills every two hours from 6am to 6pm every day. My throat became raw and hoarse, that the pain trying to force down pills was so intense that I had to quit that program. As a result I lost my voice to a degree that I had to start seeing a speech specialist for vocal therapy just to heal my vocal chords and get my voice back.
It got to a point during some of my physical therapy and chiropractor visits that my back was in such extreme pain, I was advised to have a surgical procedure. During this procedure they hooked up tubes and removed excess body fat from my belly area because of the pressure and pain it was levying on the spine.
It was clear that I needed to find something that was not as invasive, expensive, but also sustainable that I could use that was not medication. I'd done that as well previous to this procedure, where I was put on Phentermine to help me lose weight, and to help me get a handle on my out of control health.
It was some time later after all these events and struggles with my health, that I was introduced to the Feel Great System! And this is the answer I was looking for, and likely that answer many of you are searching for as well. Click below and you too will know that this is right for you too.
